Team CMC enjoying some hard earned sandwiches after a great day at Idwal Slabs

Having spent the last 15 months in varying states of lockdown and without a CMC trip its fair to say that we were all very excited to be out again on the first outdoor meet of 2021…and what a resounding success it was

The weather was, unusually for Wales, warm and sunny. All participants were out early on all days and enjoyed some fantastic climbing. The campsite at Dolgam Farm was perfect for our needs too!

Day One:

We started the weekend with a CMC invasion of Idwal Slabs with myself, Paula, Dean, Josh, Glenn, Adrian, Kevin and Lee all heading up in teams on Tennis Shoe, Hope, Central Rib and Continuation Wall.

Cat and Raf took themselves off to Clogwyn y Grochan in Llanberis Pass and had a fab day. Marion and Derek headed to Tremadog and, by all accounts, also had an amazing day!

Lisa, Alex, Rob and Isabella all headed to Little Tryfan and were later met by Kev, Glenn, Adrian and Josh who had stopped off from their adventures at Idwal. Glenn had his first trad lead on Crack 3 (and made it look easy!) Kev and Adrian polished off Slab 1.

The evening finished with further CMC invasion of the Tyn-y-Coed pub!

Day Two:

CMC descended on the Carreg Wastad crag with teams on Crackstone Rib, Wrinkle, Skylon, Shadow Wall and Elidor. Alex and Lisa headed to Little Tryfan for some unfinished business as did Cat and Raf who headed back to Clogwyn y Grochan and were spotted strolling in to the campsite at about 10:00pm!

Rob and Isabella spent the day diving down some old quarries in Molewyns before heading back to the campsite for a chilly dip in the river.

We finished off with a Spag Bol fest at Chairman Base Camp!

Day Three:

The final day saw some people head for home. Alex, Lisa, myself, Paula, Josh Cat and Raf headed to Little Tryfan for a chilled day. This is a great little crag for a short day climbing with friends in the sun, whilst Rob and Isabella headed off to conquer Mount Snowdon!

The mood in the CMC is positive and buoyant. We have more trips planned which will, no doubt, result in many more adventures!
